I have attached a pdf that shows how the Viewport is stuck on saving the *MASTER Nav Tree. It has been "saving" for about 15 mins. Also notice how it is duplicating options under folder Employee Tools (which is Utilities renamed). I got an error on an earlier attempt to save the Nav tree which was vvnavs - err001c... Thanks.

Oops, pdf too big! But, all it shows is the Saving Navigation Tree... message, as well as the duplicate entries under Employee Tools folder

Can you go into the "Errors" program under Administration/Monitor and then post the details of the error?

sure. But, I will have to log out first, seems to be hosed.

actually logging out did not help. will try to restart the server

Restarting the server does not help either. Looks like all options are duped, and the Error sub tab only shows a blank screen (the handlers sub tab shows information, but not the errors sub tab)

I am not exactly clear on what happened or what you are seeing at this point. When you say the options are duplicated, if you go into the Options program, do you see duplicate options names? If so, can you click on them and verify that they each have a different ID (it will be in the title of the window).

What do you see when you go into your navigation tree under the Administration program?

When I go into Navigation Trees under the Administration folder, I see:
*MASTER - i click on it
Loading Navigation Tree... then,
Edit Navigation Tree *MASTER (ID# 1) with Basics and Navigation Tree Tabs... I click on Navigation Tree Tab, then
Navigation Tree folders... I click on Administration folder
I get 2 of every option as follows:
Settings

In the file VVNTQ200 the Field VVCHILDFLD shows the same thing (duplicated children)

Example too BIG to attach. See your email

I fixed it by deleting the duplicate records out of VVQNT200, but I think there is a problem with saving the Navigation Tree.

It appears to be a problem with masking the window when saving a navigation tree. I was able to replicate the problem by hitting Save, waiting a second and then hitting Save again. I should not be able to hit Save a second time as it should be masked. Additionally, I can press Enter twice to accomplish the same error. We will be coming up with a fix for this...in the meantime, be careful when saving nav trees to ensure that Save is only pressed once.

After cleaning up the file, I added some folders to the nav tree, then clicked save once, and the display is just sitting there doing nothing, but showing the "saving navigation tree..." box. I checked the file on the system i (while the display shows the info box) and there are no changes. I am signing off now but will restart everything tomorrow and try again. Thanks.

This has been identified as a bug so I'm moving it to the Bugs forum. There was a general problem in all the portal administration programs where the windows were not masking properly during a save operation. It has been corrected in our base code and will be fixed in release 2_1_20100305_0 which should be up for download by end of business day Friday, March 5, 2010.

If you want to be notified of when the new release is up, just subscribe to the Version History forum at http://www.cnxforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=12.

I pulled all the duplicates out of the file on the iseries, VVNTQ200, but I still cannot save the Navigation tree changes. It just says saving. I get an error in Firebug and the JSON response from the save is:

<font face="verdana" size="3"><b style="background-color:rgb(255,255,0);">Your Valence web session is no longer active. This may have happened due to inactivity timeout or termination by an administrator.</b></font></b></font>

Is there some other problem to? It's kind of hard to work on new items when you can't add them to the navigation tree.

I put on the 2.1.20100307.0 release with the update link you provided me earlier. We also restarted the server after the update.

Are you strictly only working off of the *Master tree? Or are you attempting to save a tree that you created yourself?

ktoole

Only the *Master tree.

When you look at your *master tree in the VVNAVS program, do you see the duplicates?

ktoole

I'm not sure what you mean. We had duplicates, but I removed them from the file. I don't see duplicates on the screen anymore. Do I need to run debug on VVNAVS to see if there are duplicates somewhere in there? Is there something in particular I would be looking for?

How many new options have been added to the *master tree?

ktoole

Maybe about 30 or so when we were on release 2.0 and it was working.

We were able to replicate your problem and are currently working on the fix. Hoping to have this available by tomorrow. In the meantime, I would suggest creating a new navigation tree and then only adding the options that you want on it. You would then have to go into Users and assign this new navigation tree to your user profile.

Thanks...I'll check tomorrow for anything new. In the mean time will will use other trees or reuse options on the main tree until we can add to it again.

We are still having this problem. We cannot add to the *master tree. I don't want to have two user ID's to signon to see all the options and it would take some time to recreate the master tree, Copy is not working either on the master tree. Is there a solution to this yet?

ktoole, can you let us know if the 2.1.20100322.0 update fixed this problem?
