This post is a duplicate of my recent blog entry. I'm posting again here in the Valence Community Support forum so more users will see it.

--------------------

Ext has finally released Ext Designer! This post is to answer some of your questions about what it means to Valence and to you as a Valence developer.

CNX will be releasing the Valence Designer at some point in the near future, which of course will be based on the Ext Designer with the addition of some integration features with Valence and the IBM i database. I am reluctant to reveal the exact features at this point because they are still being worked out.

In the meantime you may license the Ext Designer directly from Ext and use it as part of developing your Valence applications. When you pay for Ext Designer licenses make sure to save your payment receipt. Once CNX releases the Valence Designer you will receive a credit from CNX for the amount you already paid to Ext to use towards the purchase of Valence Designer licenses.

What will the new price/developer be with the designer included? And, can we license it without designer?

You will still be able to license the Valence framework without the designer. The Community Developer license will always be free and you can consult the Valence Store for the Professional Developer license prices.

Regarding the Valence Designer we have not yet set the price. Initially it may be the same price as the Ext Designer until such time as we add a significant number of Valence integrations, then the price will be incrementally more than the Ext Designer, but again no firm price as yet.

As indicated in my post, your investment in the Ext Designer is protected because when you switch to the Valence Designer you will get a credit for the amount already spent.
