Are there any web-based 5250 emulators that I can use with Valence?

IBM i Access for Web would probably work within the Valence Portal, although we haven't tested it specifically.

I need to be able to click on an option in the navigation tree and go directly to a green screen in a new tab. Do you know if that is possible?
I have done the with MochaSoft ActiveX. Installation file, very small footprint, resides on the System i and is installed as an ActiveX component
first time user clicks the option. Works both as a portal and popup option.

what kind of server does it run on? integrated system i HTTP, websphere, tomcat...
The install files for Mocha ActiveX are stored in the IFS on Sysstem i.
URL request at my site is:
http://xxxxxxxx.org/MochaActivex/tn5250.htm
indicating that the install files are /MochaActivex below the document root specified in the HTTP instance.

I saw this working on hbi's system today while we were on an online support meeting. It seems to work perfectly. hbi can launch an emulator link directly from the Valence Portal and open up a tab with the Mocha emulator operating directly in that Valnece Portal tab. Keep in mind this would only work in IE because it's ActiveX-based.
Another emulator I am struggling with is TN5250J at
http://tn5250j.sourceforge.net/
It's java based and can be setup with Webstart (.jnlp). The emulator
works fine.
The problems I have are regarding Webstart.
I got it working in Firefox but not IE8.
I am not able to get preconfigured sessions downloaded to the requesting user so after first download via Webstart the user has to do configuration.
If somebody here have or will try it let us share experiences.

Hai every one,
To pick this up again.
We are using iSeries Access for windows for our emulations in normal windows screens.
But can we use this inside Valence ?
Can some one give me more info about this ?
Thanks,
Kurt

Kurt, if you mean the Windows-based emulator that runs as a PC program which most people still call "Client Access" the answer is no, there's no way to run that inside of Valence. The restriction is not with Valence, it just that you can't run PC applications within the context of a browser window. You have to have a web-based emulator of some kind that you can go to with a web address and then you can link that within Valence.

Goodmorning,
Is there an emulator where it is possible to go to the emulation and give parameters with it ?
We want to go from a list view we made with Valence to a detailed screen that is still in the old RPG green screen, so we have to open the emulator with som parameters.
Does have enyone has info about this ?
thanks,
Kurt

Is it possible for you to just create a detail screen in Valence that would show the same info as your old green screen? That would be a lot faster than messing around with an emulator and getting to the right screen.

Hai Richard,
For some applications that is what we want to do but for others we want to keep the old screens fot a while because there is a lot of difficult bussisnes logic in it.
Greetings,
Kurt
